The 1086 battle near Badajoz where the Almoravids saved al-Andalus for another century.
After Toledo fell, the taifa kings of al-Andalus called on Yusuf ibn Tashfin, the Almoravid ruler of Morocco. He crossed the strait and crushed Alfonso VI's army at al-Zallaqa in 1086. The Almoravids then took over al-Andalus themselves.
